Quick answers, no runaround.
We've put what guests usually ask us, with the kind of plain answers we'd want if it were our car. Don't see your question? Call either shop or send a message. A real person will get back to you.
The basics
Things to know before you walk in or call.
Is the estimate really free?
Yes, completely free and there's no obligation to use us afterward.
You can come in person, send us photos through our online estimate form, or call and we'll walk through it with you. Most estimates take 15–20 minutes.
Do I need an appointment, or can I just stop in?
Both work. Walk-ins are welcome during business hours, but appointments mean less waiting and a focused estimator who's expecting you.
For hail-storm season specifically, please call ahead. Those weeks fill up fast.
Which location should I go to?
Whichever's closer or more convenient. Both shops do the day-in, day-out body work, hail repair, paintless dent removal, windshield repair, and headlight restoration.
- Des Moines (2121 NW 100th Street) is OEM-certified for several luxury and performance makes (Honda, Volvo, INFINITI/Nissan, GM incl. Cadillac, Lexus, and Jaguar Land Rover, the only JLR-certified shop in Iowa), holds Assured Performance certification, and has Saturday hours.
- Granger (3333 IA-141) is the only shop that does spray-on truck bedliner installs.
If your car is a newer luxury vehicle and you want OEM-certified work (especially Jaguar or Land Rover), Des Moines is the answer. Otherwise, both shops deliver the same standard.
I can't drive my car. What now?
Call us first. We can usually arrange a tow directly to either shop, often through your insurance's roadside coverage. If your insurance is paying for the tow, they'll typically cover one tow to a repair shop of your choice.
Don't have your car towed twice. Call us, we'll help you figure out the cleanest path.
Insurance & claims
The part most guests dread. We've made our peace with it, and we'll guide you through.
Do you work with my insurance company?
Yes, every major insurance carrier writing policies in Iowa.
Both shops carry Direct Repair Program (DRP) relationships with Nationwide and Farm Bureau. Our Des Moines location is also a DRP preferred shop for Progressive. DRP status means faster claim processing and pre-approved repairs for those policyholders.
That said, DRP relationships aren't a gatekeeper. We work directly with State Farm, Allstate, GEICO, USAA, Liberty Mutual, and every other carrier just the same.
Do I really get to pick the repair shop?
Yes. Iowa law gives you the right to choose your repair shop, no matter what your insurance company recommends.
Insurers may suggest a "preferred" or DRP shop because there's a paperwork-and-volume relationship there, not because it's the only option. You're allowed to say "I'd like Willis" and that's that.
Will filing a claim raise my insurance rate?
Comprehensive claims (hail, vandalism, weather, falling objects, animal strikes) almost never affect your rate in Iowa; they're considered no-fault events.
Collision claims (where another driver hit you, or you hit something) can affect your rate depending on fault and your specific policy. If the other driver was at fault, your rate generally won't change.
Always ask your agent before filing if you're concerned. We're happy to walk through the trade-off with you.
I have a deductible. Do I pay it to you or to my insurance?
You pay the deductible to us at the time of repair pickup. Your insurance pays us their portion directly.
If you need to spread the deductible out, talk to your estimator at drop-off. We can sometimes work something out depending on the repair.
Do I need to get multiple estimates?
Insurance companies sometimes suggest it, but it's rarely required by your policy. Iowa law gives you the right to choose your shop without comparison-shopping.
If you'd like a second opinion, we'd encourage it. We're confident our work and pricing hold up. But you don't have to.
What if I need a rental car while my car is being repaired?
Most insurance policies include rental coverage if the other driver was at fault, or if you've added rental coverage to your own policy. Check with your agent.
We work with local rental partners and can help coordinate so the rental is ready when you drop your car off, and gone the same day you pick it up.
The repair itself
What happens between drop-off and pickup.
How long will the repair take?
Depends on the damage:
- Windshield chip repair / small PDR ding: often about an hour
- Headlight restoration: typically 1–2 hours
- Bumper or panel paint work: a few days
- Full collision repair with frame work: typically 1–3 weeks
We'll give you a realistic estimate when you bring your car in, and we'll tell you the moment anything changes. No "should be ready Friday" running into the next Friday.
Will my car look the same after the repair?
Yes; that's the point. We use Axalta waterborne paint matched to your car's factory color code, finished in our downdraft baking ovens to OEM standards. Panel gaps, paint texture, and finish should be invisible to anyone who didn't see the damage.
If something doesn't meet that bar, we'll redo it. Our paint warranty is for as long as you own the car.
Do you offer a warranty on your work?
Yes:
- Paint and finish: lifetime warranty against failure, for as long as you own the vehicle (Axalta-backed)
- Body and structural repairs: written warranty for the life of your ownership
- Headlight restoration: 2-year warranty
- OEM parts: follow the manufacturer's warranty terms
Do you use OEM (factory) parts or aftermarket?
Whatever's right for your car and what your insurance approves. Modern cars, especially newer vehicles with ADAS sensors (cameras, radar, blind-spot), often require OEM parts to maintain factory crash performance and warranty coverage.
Our Des Moines shop is OEM-certified for Honda, Volvo, INFINITI/Nissan, GM (covering Chevy, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac), Lexus, and Jaguar Land Rover, meaning factory-approved parts and procedures. We're the only JLR-certified collision shop in Iowa, we hold Assured Performance certification, and we carry Ford aluminum repair capability through an I-CAR-certified technician.
We'll always tell you what's being used and why before any work starts.
Do you handle hail damage and storm damage claims?
Yes, and a lot of it. Hail is one of our most common services, especially May through July.
Most hail damage is repaired with paintless dent removal (PDR), which preserves your factory paint and is dramatically cheaper than full body work. Most hail claims are filed under your comprehensive coverage, which is no-fault and almost never affects your rate.
After a major storm, call ahead. We batch hail claims to keep wait times reasonable.
How do I know my car is structurally safe after the repair?
Because we follow factory specifications and use the equipment manufacturers approved. Both shops carry I-CAR Gold Class certification: industry shorthand for continuously renewed training across the entire repair team. Our Des Moines shop also has individual technicians who hold I-CAR Platinum, the highest training level for their roles.
For modern vehicles with ADAS, sensors and cameras must be precisely recalibrated after panel work. We do that recalibration in-house at our Des Moines location for our OEM-certified makes, and through manufacturer-approved partners for others. We don't return cars that haven't been recalibrated when they should be.
Pricing transparency
Most body shops won't list prices. Here's what ours start at.
How much does a typical repair cost?
The one service we'll publish a price for is headlight restoration. The work and pricing are consistent enough that we can stand behind a flat rate. For everything else, every vehicle is different and we'd rather give you a real number on a free estimate than a misleading "starts at."
| Service | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Headlight restoration (single) | $190 | Includes 2-year warranty |
| Headlight restoration (pair) | $345 | Best value; 2-year warranty |
For windshield repair, paintless dent removal, hail damage, collision repair, paint work, and full body work, every car is different. Send us photos through our free estimate form or stop by either shop, and we'll give you a clear written quote, free of charge.
Why don't you list prices for collision and paint work?
Because honest answer: nobody could give you a real price without seeing the car. The same dent on a Civic vs. an INFINITI involves different parts, different paint codes, sometimes different sensor recalibrations.
We could put "starts at $X" on a website, but anyone whose repair came in higher would feel misled. So instead: free estimate, written quote, no surprises.
Will the final cost match the estimate?
Yes, for what we can see at the estimate. Sometimes hidden damage shows up once a panel is removed (a common one: structural damage behind a bumper that looks fine from outside).
If that happens, we stop and call you. No hidden fees, no work performed without your written approval.
Still have a question?
